Anyways, I decided to start a Fiverr gig after exploring various options my boyfriend can do on the side for extra cash. I somehow got interested after seeing how many random gigs I could start for fun.
I’ve always had a thing for calligraphy, journaling and drawing since I was a young girl. Back in elementary, my grade 4 teacher would make us all start a journal that would become a year long class project. She said we could write anything we want in it and be creative with it if we chose to.
My best friend Mary and I at the time were the most creative students in the class. We both took it to the next level and decorated our journals with full-page colored drawings. The teacher was so impressed she would showcase it to the other teachers. I actually still have those journals at my mom’s house to keep as childhood memories. It’s always nice to look at them from time to time and reminisce.
This continued on until probably Sec. 2 or 3 of my high school years. I would continue to draw full fledged drawings, all colored and detailed on some of the pages of my geography, biology and history notebooks. However, every year my interest in drawing and calligraphy slowly deteriorated. Maybe once or twice a year I would suddenly get a burst of inspiration but it wasn’t something I persisted or had the time for as I grew older.
It was only until recently I started getting back into it. After purchasing my tablet last year I began to draw more frequently. It was a lot easier and less messier to draw digitally than it was to draw on physical paper. I started to occasionally practice my calligraphy. I then began to pick up on some basic graphic design. Slowly, I began to incorporate my newly learned skill into my artwork.
And now look where it’s taken me – a brand new side gig. What do ya know?
Fiverr is basically a website that allows freelancers to come together and sell their services. It allows them to post any gig they want in a huge marketplace. I admit I love this idea because if you are looking for example, someone to create a certain graphic design for your website or a logo design, Fiverr is the best place for you to go and find this person to fulfill it at an affordable price. You can even hire a virtual assistant or someone to optimize your SEO for you. Heck, I even saw someone who posted up a gig that they would play any video game with you. Can you believe that ? They were selling their time for money. You could even pay them to play with you for 24 hours straight. How crazy is that?!
The best part is, it’s on their terms and they aren’t working for a specific agency. This means that these people are all entrepreneurs working for themselves and they normally won’t charge a hefty price compared to the ones working for agencies.
If you keep telling yourself you can’t make money then you are essentially lying to yourself. You are simply afraid to get out of your comfort zone and try new things. As you can see, you can always pick up little gigs doing literally anything! How can you ever guess what people would actually pay money for? You can’t read minds!
Just think, by helping someone save time they will be willing to shell out money to pay you for it. Just keeping reminding yourself that once time is lost, you can’t get it back. So as a result, time is what people spend money on to save as much as it as they can.
What If I Don’t Have Any Skills Or Talents?
Everyone is good at something, they just aren’t aware of it. Next time you tell yourself that you aren’t good at anything enough to make money, I suggest you go to one of your friends or family members and ask them what they think you are good at. I bet you they will name at least one thing and if they really can’t think of anything, then join me in experimenting to find what it is you are good at! Go out there, talk to people, explore new activities, take on new skills, do whatever it takes to figure out what it is you are actually good at… and monetize it! Skills are something you can pick up on and the more you work on it, the better you get at it!
I never knew that I was good at making websites or even taking photos until I tried it out and people were telling me how great I was at it. I unlocked a new skill that had never once crossed my mind to think I was actually good at.
Like I always keep telling you guys, you never know until you try and don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. You won’t get anywhere in life if you choose to stay stuck within your bubble.
There are seriously a ton of ways to make money, you just aren’t exploring all of your options enough.
So get out there and try new things! Join me on my journey and we’ll take control of our lives one skill at a time.
If you guys are interested in starting a gig or even looking for someone to complete a specific project for you on Fiverr, I’ve added a link down below for you to check out.
