Gratitude. Something that is often missed and forgotten as we go about our day to day lives. We often forget to count our blessings and be thankful for what we have. Today, my coworker that I’ve been helping to train up until now genuinely expressed her gratitude to me for taking the time to train her and to change her lifestyle to a more healthy and active one. That really made me feel good, it was so sweet of her. Training and inspiring to make a difference in someone’s life is something that really leaves me feeling like no other. It brings me so much happiness. Kind gestures are something that should be done on a day to day basis, even if it’s merely just giving up a seat for someone else or giving someone something just cause you can. Practice the act of giving and you will get more in return.
We had the conversation of self-development and how what a difference it made writing down things she was thankful for every day changed her life and really helped her to think differently about everything. She said it opens and expands your mind to think a different way. She also mentioned something important. That in the end, you are the one that is always going to be there for you. No one will really be there with you all the time to help you when you are down. It is all up to you and how you deal with your situation. It made me realize many things.. and that is why she said she resorted to self-help books. During the year she was going through her divorce she was in the worst state she had ever been and what really helped her to get through it were self-help books. Without them, she would have not been able to get through the way she did. She told me that even though her friends were there to support her and give her advice, it was really just her in the end.
We get caught up in our busy lives, doing this and that and we never stop to think about all the little things that we miss. Like the saying goes, “Stop and smell the roses…” Don’t always feel rushed to do things. Slow down, appreciate, be kind, smile, be optimistic, meditate and unravel your mind. Never stop learning. Read and expand your knowledge. Trigger your creativity. Challenge your thoughts. Think about all the people who have helped you along the way. Express your gratitude and acknowledge those that have allowed you to be who you are today. Remind yourself that you are the one in control of your life and you may choose to live the life you want. Don’t ever feel like you are stuck in any situation. There will always be a way out. You just have to persevere.
