How Coaches Can Turn AI Into a Competitive Edge

Every serious business is already using AI, or will be soon. Which means AI is no longer your edge. It’s the floor. And what you build on top of that floor is everything.

When the tool becomes the trap

After weeks of stress-testing AI tools, building apps, and going deep into the intersection of design strategy and emerging technology, something became undeniably clear to me. And I think it quietly changes the way every coach and speaker should be looking at their brand right now.

Anyone can build a website now. Like seriously, that’s just a fact.

You can now prompt your way to a polished looking 5-page site in a single afternoon. I’ve watched it happen and even tested it myself using various AI tools for weeks to test its capabilities… but also examine its limitations.

And if you spend any time on Threads, you’ve probably seen the wave of people sharing their AI built creations like a badge of honor.

But here’s what I also noticed, as someone with a trained design eye: the gaps are everywhere.

The spacing is off… The hierarchy is broken… Layout decisions that look passable at a glance don’t hold up under scrutiny. These are the details that make a designer like me wince 😅

More importantly, they’re the details that quietly erode trust with a visitor who can’t name what’s wrong but feels something is.

From what I’ve seen and tested so far, the AI still produces subpar outputs. Even with properly structured prompts it still can’t quite produce website mockup designs that look unique. After seeing so many AI-created websites, you’ll start to see what I mean.

The ones I’ve seen that really wow’ed me were the ones where a significant amount of time was spent using various different tools like Kling AI or Nano Banana to create unique animations or images to add to the design. But even with all of this available, those who don’t have a design background wouldn’t be able to tell a good design from a bad one.

The deeper problem isn’t the imperfect output. The fact is if you don’t have the expertise to evaluate what AI produces, you won’t know what you don’t know… And that gap, between what AI can generate and what expert judgment can discern, is exactly where your opportunity lives.

AI didn’t change the game. It changed the baseline.

When everyone has access to the same tools, the tools stop being the differentiator. What differentiates you is the judgment layered on top of them. The discernment that knows where AI falls short. The lived expertise that catches what a language model can’t manufacture: real context, nuanced strategy, and a deep understanding of the human on the other side of your work.

This is true in design, and it’s also equally true in coaching and speaking.

You’ve spent years developing your methodology, your perspective, your way of reading a room and meeting people where they are. That’s not something that gets prompted into existence. It’s accrued. It compounds. And in a landscape where AI generated content is multiplying faster than anyone can track, that accumulated depth becomes more valuable, not less.

In my own studio, AI has genuinely accelerated parts of my own process: research, initial wireframes, creative brief drafts, email refinement, business strategy sessions. It’s a sharp tool. But every output still goes through a filter of expertise — refined, evaluated, and shaped by judgment that took years to build. That’s what makes the final product trustworthy.

And that’s what everyone now using AI should be doing… as a way not to replace their own expertise but to amplify their genius.

There’s another dimension to this that no AI tool will ever touch: presence.

Showing up on video. Deepening relationships. Staying in genuine conversation with the people you want to serve. These aren’t tactics… They’re the texture of trust. And trust is what converts an audience into clients! No algorithm is coming for that.

The coaches and speakers I work with aren’t hiring me because they can’t access a website builder. They’re hiring me because they want to stay in their zone of genius. Because having a brand built with expertise, not just assembled with speed, is the difference between a site that looks fine and a presence that actually converts.

That dynamic isn’t going away. If anything, the demand for expert humans is growing precisely because AI has made it harder to distinguish depth from the appearance of depth.

What happened when strategy replaced speed

One of my clients came to me with a beautiful AI assisted site she’d built herself. It looked put together on the surface. But her discovery calls weren’t converting, and she couldn’t pinpoint why.

When we did a brand audit together, the issue became clear immediately. Her messaging was structured for someone exploring the problem, not someone ready to invest in the solution. The hierarchy was guiding visitors to the wrong conclusion and the visual language felt generic in a way that undermined the specificity of her offer.

Within weeks of rebuilding with a clear brand strategy underneath, not just better aesthetics, her inquiry quality changed completely. The people reaching out already understood her methodology, already felt resonance with her voice, and came to calls pre-sold. She wasn’t chasing, and instead was choosing.

That’s what expert judgment creates that AI cannot: a brand that does the qualifying for you.

Coaches and speakers who learn to use AI as an amplifier, not a replacement, will be the ones who build brands that create trust at scale while staying rooted in what only they can offer.

The question worth sitting with before your next move

Before you update your website, create a new lead magnet, or redesign your visual identity, ask yourself this: am I building this on a foundation of clear strategy and expert judgment, or am I building quickly and hoping it works?

Speed matters. But clarity built on expertise is what sustains a brand as the landscape shifts beneath it.

If you’re ready to stop creating generic freebies and start building something that actually mirrors your audience’s reality, activates a shift in how they see their problem, and points them directly toward working with you, the AI Lead Lab is exactly that.

Ready to build a lead magnet that actually converts?

The AI Lead Lab is now available as a self paced course inside The Undeniable Authority Membership for a one time fee of $97. You’ll work through the M.A.P. framework (Mirror, Activate, Point Forward) using structured AI prompts to build a strategic lead magnet, one that mirrors your audience’s reality, activates a shift in how they see their problem, and points them directly toward working with you.

You’ll also get access to a growing space for coaches and speakers focused on positioning and visibility, with more resources added as the community grows.

No more generic freebies. Just a clear, strategic asset built with the judgment that turns a download into a visibility engine.
