Today was my first day on the job as an Account Executive at Future Electronics. It was amazing. The people are great and I absolutely loved my first day. I got the chance to meet so many interesting people, most of which were young, students or who graduated from University. The company is much further away compared to my previous job. What would normally take me 45-60 minutes to get to work downtown, it took me about 1h30-45 minutes to get to the West Island. It is a huge difference but if the company is worth it, then I really don’t mind it at all. Judging by my first day, I love it so far. Lunch was complimentary so I received a $12 lunch voucher for the subsidized cafeteria (super awesome!). I had orientation in the morning and then spent most of the day job shadowing and completing online courses.
This job is completely different from my previous job. The people are what really make the difference. My new colleagues are absolutely amazing and I kind of feel like I am in University again. What makes this company truly unique is it’s corporate culture. The fact that they promote growth as much as possible within the company for their employees is great. Also, the benefits are wonderful; free gym access, classes, personal trainer, onsite clinic, dry cleaning, subsidized cafeteria, shuttle bus to downtown and free parking. This was the type of company I was looking to work for. Even though I am getting a job completely out of my comfort zone, the fact that I am working for such a great company will allow me to ease into the job much quicker and overcome my weaknesses.
I am so glad this opportunity came up. I truly believe it was karma.. the fact that the recruiter from a great company contacted me from Indeed for a sales job that I was currently seeking. What are the odds ? It just happened so fast and aligned with my goals so well, it has to be karma. I won’t try to get my hopes up too much but I am just so excited about this new job! We will see how I feel after about a month or so into the job. But right now I just feel blessed to be able to get the chance to jump on this new opportunity. If I don’t like it, I will just change to something else. But I really do want to learn how to sell and this job will allow me to expand on this skill. Never stop learning. Get out of your comfort zone. With that, I conclude this blog with two quotes:
“What we fear doing most is usually what we most need to do.” – Tim Ferriss
“Trust that the universe has your back.” – Gabrielle Bernstein
Wish me luck! X.O.X.O.
