A Simple Reflection

As I think back on all the things I’ve gone through and experienced up until now, I really don’t regret any of it. There are so many things I am grateful for. When you begin to look and reflect back, it makes you think. There are so many people out there who don’t have what you have. Every time you think you are at your lowest point, just think of all the other people who are suffering way more than you and dealing with far worse problems you could ever imagine. People forget this all of the time. Heck, I even forget. I remember listening to a podcast with Hal Elrod, the author of the book, “The Miracle Morning” who said that mornings are the best time to be productive and that just allowing some time to reflect or read even for just 10 min can have a huge impact on the rest of your day. I didn’t read the book yet but I have it downloaded on my Ebook readily available for when I do decide to read it.

Keeping a journal to write at the end or at beginning of the day is a great way to change your mindset and remind yourself of all the things you are grateful for. The author mentioned a really great website called that sold journals with questions in it that you could answer every day such as, “Name 3 things you are grateful for” or “What did I do today that I could do better tomorrow?” I forgot what the website was but answering simple questions such as those mentioned really makes you reflect. It makes you feel wonderful.

Today, as Karen and I were walking down the stairs. We saw an older woman with her trolley and a bunch of bags about to go down the stairs. We asked her if she needed help and she was so grateful for it. The smile on her face and in her eyes really warmed my heart. It just makes me feel so good when I do kind things for people. Even if it’s just something small, it makes me feel really joyful that I want to tear up (which I kinda do every time I see such happiness, it’s pretty sad really). One of my friends posted on her Facebook status a while back about the priceless look of the person’s face behind her the moment she paid for two coffees and told the cashier to give it to the next person in line. It was such a thoughtful and sweet gesture of her. It made me smile when I read it.

Another thing I love doing at work is replying to people’s emails as kind as I possibly can. I always say “Have a great day!” or “Thank you so much for your prompt reply to this matter. I greatly appreciate it.” I complimented one time to an employee who worked upstairs by e-mail appreciating her for her great efforts and told her how she was such a hard worker. She was so happy and told me how grateful she was that I had recognized her for the work she put in. It made me feel wonderful.

Just writing about this post makes me smile and feel happy inside. Performing one kind gesture per day even if it’s just a small, simple gesture can instantly impact a person’s entire day. Smiling is contagious, do it more often. Do kind things for people and tell them to pay it forward. I don’t know if you have ever watched that movie before but I absolutely love that movie.. It’s an old classic but it contains such a powerful message. Watch it, it’s well worth your time and you will learn a lot from it.

Have an amazing day !
