How Implementing Spiritual Practices Helped Me Find My Light

Do you incorporate some sort of spiritual practice into your daily routine?

I always thought people who were into this kind of stuff were a bit mental. But when I started hearing my favorite mentors and other successful people implementing spiritual practices into their daily routine.. I started to question it.

My first introduction to spirituality

The first time I was ever introduced to spiritual practices was around the beginning stages of my e-commerce business about a year ago. Our team was given the task to read The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod and challenge ourselves to develop a consistent morning routine.

Note: Now FREE for prime members with their new Prime Reading for Amazon Prime members which is a pretty awesome perk if you ask me. All you need is an Amazon Prime account to be able to ‘borrow,’ download and read up to 10 books at a time! It kind of works like a library. If you’d like to switch out a book, simply return one of the books and borrow another one.

the miracle morning

The book talks about creating a daily morning ritual that consists of a 6-step routine which uses the concept of habit stacking. S.A.V.E.R.S in short consists of silence, affirmations, visualizations, exercise, reading and scribing. Following these 6 steps can improve our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness. To read more about how my ideal morning routine was like last year, make sure to read this article. My morning ritual has changed since then but this is a great example of the types of activities I used to do every morning before heading off to work.

The months I implemented this practice I began to see my life take its turn. This is also around the time I began to learn more about the power of manifestation and vision boards.

What happened when I stopped my routine

Everything was going well until I suddenly stopped after moving back to my parent’s house in June and gave up on my routine entirely. I tried doing it every morning but it was really inconsistent especially after my boyfriend unexpectedly came back from Toronto to move back in with me and my parents. My entire schedule and flow got disrupted and I couldn’t be productive for the life of me.

For 3 to 4 months, I dove into a dark place. I started getting depressed without realizing it and found myself constantly thinking negative thoughts. I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I had stopped everything at this point. All I was doing was finishing up the last of my remaining client’s projects and told myself I was going to do something else.

Do what? I had no idea. But after treading through these dark times, I’m thankful of how much I’ve come to realize and learned many valuable lessons.

The healing process

It was only until November that I finally decided to resort back to these practices in an effort to heal and find myself again. My mentor told me to take a break from social media and reminded me that I owe no one anything.

She reshaped my mindset entirely. That talk was all I needed to turn back towards journaling, meditation and visualization once again. I took a huge break from content creation and turned my attention towards looking deeper within myself to discover my true purpose and to remind myself of who I was.

The tools & methods I used to heal myself

Oracle Cards

I had my eye on these oracle cards ever since I first saw it on psimella‘s IG page and instantly fell in love. I knew I wanted them the moment I lay eyes on them. Ever since my first tarot reading back in May, I’ve started developing a sense of curiosity for this entirely new realm of spirituality. And after getting two other tarot readings months later, I was shook. All three tarot readings I picked out the same card–three of swords. Not only that, EVERY single tarot reading I drew out swords even after seeing my friend and boyfriend picking out entirely different cards directly before or after me. How freaky is that?

Work your light oracle

I dove deeper into figuring out the meaning behind the sword cards I drew and quickly became fascinated with tarot cards & oracle cards. I have yet to buy my own tarot deck but decided to first start off with my own pack of oracle cards first (it was also because it was cheaper and on sale).

Oracle cards are a great tool to help you tap into your intuition and help you to interpret what the surrounding energies are telling you.

“Energetically, Oracle cards hold a lot of ‘big’ energy. They give insight into the greater sense of what is going on, but Tarot cards can provide more detailed interpretations.”

If you’re interested in learning more about the difference between Tarot cards and Oracle cards. Make sure to read this informative blog post here.

Also, if you’d like to experience the benefits of using oracle cards to help work your inner light, the makers of these cards actually created free apps for you to use which is supposed to work the same way as having the physical cards on hand.

For me, I prefer having the cards physically in my hands to ‘connect’ with them better but that’s just me. If you’re interested in buying your own deck, you may get yours here.

The 3 cards I drew:

AKASHA

Akasha exists in the fifth dimension and the Iibrary of souls. All soul contracts, history, gifts, lessons, and more exist here. We each have access to this information of the past, present, and future, and can tap into it at any time.

While we have freewill, there are also points on the timeline of our lives that are predestined or preplanned – soul contracts or agreements that were made before incarnating. It could be a company you chose to work for, a relationship you planned to have, or a person you agreed to mentor or help. Whatever it is, know that it is divinely guided and will not bypass you.
If you are waiting for a sign to proceed, this card is it. You are likely living out an important part of your soul’s journey and you are exactly where you need to be. This is very exciting indeed.

It is time to call in the support of your helpers – both in the physical realm and the spirit world. To trust the signs coming. To take note of your dreams. To notice any feelings or visions that you receive, for you are tapping into the wisdom of the Akasha and you are being given the go-ahead to proceed.

WORK YOUR LIGHT TRANSMISSION

Hold the card on your heart and say:
‘I open myself up to receive the wisdom of the Akasha. I am ready to download any information from my soul records that is in my highest good and the highest good of all right now! Thank you, thank you, thank you.’

FILL UP YOUR WELL

The most selfless thing you can do is to fill up your own inner well. When we are running around half filled, we subconsciously look to things and people around us to give us the nourishment and nurturing that we so deeply crave.

Nothing can grow in barren lands. You are no good to anyone if you’re running on empty. The feminine is bountiful, fertile, and rich. Tend to your own well and watch as the amount you have to give multiplies.

If your inner well isn’t full, you will find yourself craving things from the outside world to fill it. This is our body’s instinctive way of reaching for the grounding and nurturing that we are not allowing ourselves.

What nourishes you? What refuels your body? What is nectar for your soul? What brings you back to life? What is your secret medicine? What makes you feel abundant and fertile? Overspilling with life?

It may be gardening, arranging flowers, getting a massage, using luxurious essential oils, snuggling up on the couch, hiking, sipping a good coffee at your favorite cafe, attending a women’s circle, reading about sacred sites, spontaneous bike rides, walking along the beach, or yin yoga.

What nourishes you is your medicine. When you give yourself the medicine that you need to be nourished, you nourish all those around you for there is more than enough to go around.

WORK YOUR LIGHT ACTION

Do something to fill up your well today.

Your guidance is divinely guided. You are being called to answer the call of your soul. It might be scary, it might not make sense, but if you trust your soul’s yearnings, you will live a life beyond what your mind could possibly imagine. Answering your soul’s calling is not a one-time thing, rather a lifelong dance. Deep down, you already know what you long for. What your soul yearns for.

Whatever you are called to do, that is your calling. Don’t overthink it. Don’t wait for permission. Just say YES. Most people are waiting for a step-by-step plan before they take the first step. But intuition doesn’t work like that. It takes faith and courage to answer the calls of your soul. And that’s why most people don’t do it. But you are not most people. You are in exactly the right place to answer your calling now. You don’t need to know the whole plan. You don’t even need to know where it is leading. You just need to take the next step. No one has ever had the complete, perfect plan. There is no end destination. There is no right or wrong way to do it and you do NOT need permission from anyone else. Sometimes the more resistance we have around answering a soul calling, the more important it is to our soul’s growth.

Journaling

journaling

Journaling helped me write out my thoughts & ideas unfiltered. I guess you can call it like a brain dump. Since I knew no one was reading it, journaling helped ease my mind of any thoughts that were flooding it. It is also one of the best ways to find answers to any questions you may have.

Remember, all the answers are already within you.

You just need to get in tune with yourself and look inwards to find them.

If ever you want to get started and take advantage of the benefits of journaling, there are plenty of journaling prompts out there to help guide you. For a list of journaling prompts and examples of things I journal about on a daily basis, make sure to subscribe to my email newsletter to get notified when that new blog post comes out next week.

Meditation and Visualization

And last but not least, meditation. There are many different types of meditations out there such as spiritual meditation, mindfulness meditation, mantra meditation, movement meditation, etc. I tend to gravitate more towards mindfulness and spiritual meditation.

I love to use my Insight Timer app and follow the free guided meditations on that app. My favorite guided meditation is actually a manifestation meditation called ‘Manifest Your Deepest Desires’ by Melissa Ambrosini which combines visualization and meditation into a quick and peaceful, 9-minute guided meditation. I honestly can’t recommend this guided meditation enough! Dedicating simply 9 minutes of your time a day to simply quiet the mind and sit in silence will help you to significantly improve on your emotional well-being and de-stress from the daily worries of life.

With the help of my new oracle cards, meditating and journaling on a daily basis I was able to heal and bring myself back within a month’s time.

Somewhere along the way, I lost myself which I was told was perfectly normal. But today I’m out here counting my blessings regardless of my current situation.

If ever you feel like you’ve lost your way and need any sort of guidance, I recommend working with a spiritual or business coach. Mindset will ALWAYS be the first thing you’ll have to work on. You’ll experience the benefits of working with one right after your first meeting. Trust me. Of course, finding the right coach to work with should be your first priority. That’s why I recommend watching this video to get a good idea of what to look out for when looking to invest in a coach for the first time.

If I can recommend a business coach, I’d tell you to go to Tracey Nguyen who is the Founder of BOWO Creative Inc. I currently work with her and she’s absolutely amazing! There are some people out there who just have a talent for reading people and Tracey is definitely one of those rare, gifted people who was given that ability. Check out her coaching program here.
