Your environment and the people you come into contact with is everything. It can either make or break you. I was surrounded by an extremely negative energy that was draining and sucking the life out of me day after day. In addition to that, working in a cluttered space at my parent’s house was doing nothing more than killing my productivity. I quickly started to grow more hostile and depressed without realizing it.
After officially moving to Toronto and breaking free from that negative energy, I immediately felt better and happier.

In my case, I suffered through the worst case of acne I ever had. The financial & emotional stress I was going through was throwing my hormones out of whack causing a hormonal imbalance and acne flareups. This in turn also caused me to eat more junk food which didn’t help either. I read up on so many ways in which to fight my acne but I could never figure it out. I tried so many products which in turn, made my skin worse. I was desperate so I decided to go for a facial and tried out chemical peels in the hopes of healing my acne. That helped my skin for about a week but it didn’t prevent new acne from forming.
I found out it was mostly due to stress and eating unhealthy foods. A lot of the food my parents cooked contained high amounts of fish sauce and sodium. In addition to that, I wasn’t getting enough vegetables and fruits in my daily diet and was eating out far too often. Only after moving to Toronto did I start to see a significant improvement in my skin after eating healthier and incorporating more fruits and vegetables into my diet.

You have to constantly remind yourself of your goals each and every day. This is when you’ll realize how much of an impact it is to surround yourself with driven, like-minded goalgetters. Every week, I would meet up with a few of my business besties for mini work jams. These sessions helped keep each other accountable, push our asses to the gym and keep ourselves motivated to get shit done.

Keeping track of the time you spend on every task and learning how to effectively manage time is extremely crucial. Even though you now have more hours within the day, doesn’t mean all those extra hours will be put to good use. Knowing I now had practically the whole day to myself to do whatever I wanted actually made me lazier and procrastinate harder.
One way I was able to remediate this was to start clocking my hours using an app called Clockify and planning out my goals & tasks in a planner on a daily basis. Also, keeping my to-do list to a minimal with the goal of completing only 3 tasks helped to keep things going.

We had some savings but week after week we saw our bank account go down as we continued preparing for our move to Toronto.
Having an excel sheet to record your expenses on a weekly basis will help you keep track of where your money is going and help you to figure out where to cut costs to survive longer. As my money began to diminish, I actually found myself neglecting this exercise more and more. That’s why I need to emphasize the importance of making this into a habit for yourself. Put reminders on your phone to spare 10 minutes once a week to review your excel sheet and record the numbers. Being strict about doing this on the regular will help you attract more money into your life and improve your relationship with money instead of being ignorant about it.
